Code of Conduct

Women’s March4Justice Ltd (M4J) is a politically nonpartisan movement committed to ending inequality and gendered violence.  M4J advocates for, and amplifies the voices of, all women, including first nations, immigrant, LGBTQIA+ and women living with disabilities.

Scope

This Code of Conduct applies to all M4J:

  • Volunteers, including Directors and Suppliers
  • Activities, whether paid or unpaid
  • Locations, whether or not controlled by M4J and including all public places.

Objectives

This Code of Conduct prescribes the standards of behaviour required to ensure:

  • All public and stakeholder interactions with M4J are supportive and productive
  • M4J operates in accordance with its core values, being:
    • Safety
    • Respect
    • Integrity
    • Accountability.

Given the importance of the above objectives, this Code of Conduct must be reviewed and authorised by each Volunteer prior to commencing any activity with M4J.

Safety

When undertaking M4J activities, Volunteers must:

  • Comply with all laws, including traffic laws
  • Not be affected by alcohol or drugs
  • Not be affected by an illness or medications that reduce their ability to act safely
  • Always work safely and avoid exposing themselves and others to hazards
  • Follow the instructions of Evacuation Wardens and Emergency Services Personnel during emergencies
  • Report any hazard, safety concern or safety incident in a timely manner to their Supervisor or any member of the M4J Board by using this form.
  • If presented with survivor or trauma stories, refer the survivor to an appropriate organisation such as 1800 RESPECT or Lifeline 13 11 14
  • If distressed or triggered by a survivor account, seek support from an appropriate organisation such as 1800 RESPECT or Lifeline 13 11 14.

Respect

When undertaking M4J activities, Volunteers must:

  • Treat all people with respect, courtesy and sensitivity
  • Value and support other Volunteers, including proactively pursuing equality
  • Report any incident involving bullying, discrimination or harassment in a timely manner to their Supervisor or any member of the M4J Board by using this form
  • Refer all media enquiries to the M4J Board and not make any public comments about M4J unless authorised in writing to do so
  • Not disparage M4J or bring M4J into disrepute, including through the use of email, social media, websites or media
  • Not promote third parties who don’t align with M4J’s purpose and core values.

Integrity

When undertaking M4J activities, Volunteers must:

  • Act honestly
  • Not seek or accept gifts, rewards or other benefits in the course of their M4J role
  • Declare any direct or indirect interest that may conflict with their M4J activities
  • Make decisions that are fair, impartial and in the best interests of M4J
  • Use M4J assets and resources (including but not limited to M4J’s devices, databases, systems, passwords, brand(s), logo(s), social media sites and posts, electronic images, funds, Volunteers, merchandise designs and IP) solely for M4J purposes
  • Return all M4J assets and resources in their possession or under their control in a timely manner and immediately upon the termination of their M4J role.  In this regard, it should be noted that all digital and marketing content created for M4J by its Volunteers becomes the property and copyright of M4J
  • Keep confidential information confidential, including exercising care with all M4J documents, files and devices
  • Report possible wrongdoings to their Supervisor or any member of the M4J Board by using this form

Accountability

When undertaking M4J activities, Volunteers must:

  • Follow the reasonable instructions of their Supervisor
  • Constructively address issues and difficulties
  • Act with care and diligence
  • Make decisions that are timely and consider all relevant information
  • Ensure the efficient, effective and appropriate use of M4J’s assets and resources
  • Complete their activities to a satisfactory standard and the best of their abilities
  • Provide financial and operational records reasonably requested by their Supervisor

The M4J Board will:

  1. Terminate the position(s) of Volunteer(s) who breach this Code of Conduct
  2. Review this Code of Conduct as soon as reasonably practical upon substantial change, but no less frequently than every 3 years.
